Electricity split the sky.
The waves rose up like mountains, and the sea crashed against the rocks.
"That lighthouse has stood for years, it was built for this."
In the dark of the raging storm, you could barely hear the old man's reassurances.
Another huge wave came over, eclipsing the lantern-room itself. We held our breath, and it held it's ground.
The next wave was heavier, blacker, and as it fell, so too did the tower- seemingly in silence-
It made no sound over the noise of the weather's fury. Falling with the water, and vanished below the sea.
It was some moments before we all drew breath again.
I turned in silence, and walked away.
